Removing the Cogswell Interchange: Halifax Builds a New Neighbourhood

Halifax Regional Municipality is tearing down the aging, underutilized Cogswell Interchange to create a new mixed-use neighbourhood. This four-year city-building project will extend Halifax’s downtown northward, reinstate the urban grid, and reunite communities that were separated by the interchange in the 1970s.

This webinar will focus on the project’s rationale, design principles, costs and schedule, and will highlight key lessons learned through this major effort to transform a traffic-centric area into a livable, pedestrian-friendly community.

Donna Davis, Halifax Regional Municipality
Donna has been Project Manager for the Cogswell Redevelopment Project since 2017.  She has worked for the municipality for 34 years in planning and information management, including four years as Chief Information Officer. She holds a degree in Geography from Saint Mary’s University and a Master of Science degree in Urban Planning from the University of Toronto.
