Recruiting and Retaining Employees in Transportation Organizations: Meeting Today’s Workforce Challenges

Originally presented February 29, 2024

Governments and businesses across Canada are finding it difficult to recruit and retain employees. To attract new hires and reduce turnover, transportation organizations must grapple with a competitive job market, rising housing costs, hybrid work arrangements, an aging workforce, and changing generational expectations. A TAC survey in 2023 found many key challenges are shared by rural jurisdictions, large cities, small consulting firms and large government departments.

In this webinar, attendees will hear about the major findings of TAC’s survey followed by presentations from three TAC member organizations. Attendees will gain valuable insights into ways that employers are responding to today’s volatile human resources landscape, such as:

  • Employment and skills development opportunities for Indigenous peoples
  • Pooled job postings
  • Analysis of staff movements
  • Innovative recruitment strategies
